The problem CANTEEN-BUDDY solves

Problem: Parents in India still have to give children cash allowances as the transactions in schools remain cash-based. How can we enable a cashless school system which better allows parents to monitor expenditures and even dietary habits?

Here, we will be providing a dashboard for the vendors to enter the food items ordered by the student. Also, the child will be identified by the QR code given on the ID card, or a special card allotted to him/her, which will be scanned by the vendor through an external device. The final bill, along with the items ordered will be sent to the parents via an SMS or email. This will help the parents to know the type of food consumed by their children in school.

We also intend to give provision to the vendor of total earnings and customer base.

Challenges we ran into

We faced a number of challenges while doing our project:

1. A small mistake by any member would cause a ton of errors, which took a lot of time.
2. Working on Firebase was new to many of us, so we had to struggle a bit while using it
3. At a crucial juncture, we did not have enough people to work at a crucial juncture, on some very important features, and so we had to struggle there too, like messaging features, which we could not implement, and authentication, which took hard on us.
4. Remotely working on a technology, which is relatively new to us was something challenging.

But this challenge helped us learn a lot, not just technically, but also some good managerial skills
