The problem CampusConnect solves

Our app addresses the prevalent issue of disconnected social interactions by seamlessly linking users based on their location, interests, and ongoing activities. Traditional social media platforms often overlook the need for real-time, localized engagement, leaving users without an effective way to find and connect with like-minded individuals or discover nearby events. By incorporating features such as instant messaging, comprehensive event listings, dedicated chat rooms for event participants, and an interactive heatmap highlighting nearby hotspots, our app creates a dynamic and engaging environment. This allows users to effortlessly explore and join events, interact with hosts and fellow attendees, and stay updated on local happenings. Ultimately, our app fosters a vibrant community where users can build meaningful connections, participate in relevant activities, and enhance their social and cultural experiences in their immediate surroundings.

Challenges we ran into

During the development of our app, we encountered several challenges that required us to adapt and learn new skills. One significant challenge was the absence of a dedicated UI designer on our team. This gap necessitated that we take on the task of learning UI design ourselves to create an intuitive and appealing interface for our users. Additionally, none of us had extensive experience with frontend frameworks, so we had to invest considerable time and effort into mastering these technologies to ensure a seamless and responsive user experience. These learning curves were steep, but they ultimately strengthened our team's skill set and enhanced the overall quality of our app.
