The problem Bloodbank Database solves

As many of you maybe aware that we lose millions if lives per year due to chronic blood shortages. In India alone, we lose thousands of lives due to sheer lack of blood and don't even meet the basic need standard set by WHO. A rather large amount of blood is needed in medical surgeries such as chemotherapy, heart bypass or maybe due to loss of large quantity of blood in an unfortunate accident. Apart from this, we are now facing a global pandemic in which the demand of blood plasma of recovered patients from corona is rising at an alarming rate due to the exponential rise in new cases per day. A similar case happened one of us and due to the lack of management and proper information , the required blood was nowhere to be found and that caused too much trouble. A study in 2017 showed a loss of about 3 million units as it was not able to reach the desired destination in time.This urgent need of blood causes people to turn to unreliable means such as whatsapp and facebook trying to reach as many people as they can but they may not make it in time. We can no longer gamble with the lives of people and have to create a robust system that addresses the challenges of blood adequacy, safety and sustainability.
We came up with this idea of a blood bank database to overcome the challanges the system faces in providing people with the correct knowledge. This user-friendly website or app helps people to search for the blood groups they need in the nearest possible places. However you may not find the blood group you need or find it at a place far away from your location. For these particular instances you can also request for a blood group in our emergency section and if there are donors nearby,they can contact you for the same. We also created a camp section so donors can know about the blood donation camps taking place nearby there locations. So that's all we did for now, it has a lot of things to make it more powerful in the future.

Challenges we ran into

We had a hard time connecting front end with the backend. It took a lot of time to manage global state using the redux as we used it for the first time. Otp verification using twilio and we use the geolocation api for the first time. We lernt a lot of things during solving these issues. It was really enjoying to debug our codes.
