BlockScope — Truth, Verified on the Blockchain.

The problem Block_Scope solves

BlockScope is a blockchain-based news verification platform designed to combat misinformation by providing immutable news verification through Ethereum smart contracts. The platform combines modern news aggregation with blockchain technology to create a trustworthy news ecosystem.

Key Objectives

  • Create immutable verification records for news content using blockchain technology
  • Aggregate real-time news from multiple trusted sources
  • Provide transparent, auditable verification mechanisms
  • Enable location-based and category-specific news filtering
  • Build a scalable, production-ready architecture

Target Audience

  • News consumers seeking verified information
  • Journalists and fact-checkers
  • Organizations requiring trusted news sources
  • Developers interested in blockchain-based verification systems

Challenges we ran into

Building BlockScope was exciting, but it definitely wasn’t smooth from start to finish. I faced challenges at almost every layer of the stack—understanding how to properly connect a backend to a real Ethereum network, handling smart contract deployment issues, managing testnet gas and wallets, and debugging configuration mismatches between local and Sepolia environments. Small mistakes like incorrect RPC URLs, missing environment variables, or insufficient test ETH could completely block progress and took time to understand and fix. On top of that, switching between frontend logic, backend APIs, and blockchain scripts required constant context switching, which was mentally demanding. However, working through these challenges gave me a much deeper understanding of how real-world Web3 systems are built and helped turn initial confusion into confidence.
