BlockFeed solves the problem of centralized social media platforms that prioritize advertisers over users. In traditional social media platforms, users' data and privacy are often exploited for the benefit of advertisers, and the content is often subject to the platform's censorship rules. With BlockFeed, being a decentralized social media platform, users have more control over their data and privacy, and the content is free from censorship. Vidhub aims to create a more democratic approach to content creation by empowering users to have a say in what content they see and how they interact with it.

Challenges we ran into

When we set out to build BlockFeed, we knew that we wanted to create a unique video-sharing experience for our users. To achieve this, we decided to mint each video as an NFT at the time of upload, which required us to explore new technologies and solutions.

One significant challenge we faced was finding a decentralized storage solution that could support our platform. After conducting extensive research, we decided to use Filecoin for its reliability and robustness. However, integrating Filecoin into our platform required us to learn about its architecture, network, and ecosystem, which was a new experience for us. Nonetheless, we were able to overcome this challenge and implement Filecoin into our platform, ensuring that our users' videos are safely and securely stored.

Another challenge we encountered was deploying our smart contract to the Polygon network, which provides faster and cheaper transactions than Ethereum. To address this challenge, we utilized Quick Node, a platform that provides reliable and easy-to-use infrastructure for deploying and running blockchain nodes. Quick Node allowed us to deploy our smart contract on the Polygon network, enabling our users to buy and sell NFTs on BlockFeed seamlessly.

Despite these challenges, we remain committed to delivering the best possible video-sharing experience for our users. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies like Filecoin and Quick Node, we can ensure that BlockFeed is a robust, reliable, and user-friendly platform that enables our users to explore, create, and share amazing videos with the world.
