Block-Dock
A Blockchain-Based Urban Grievance Redressal and Fund Management System
The problem Block-Dock solves
Block-Dock is a blockchain-based governance platform that enhances transparency, efficiency, and security in urban administrative processes. It solves key issues in grievance redressal, fund allocation, and project management by introducing role-based access control and immutable blockchain records. This ensures real-time tracking, fraud prevention, and accountability in municipal operations.
User Interaction and Data Flow
Users (Residents):
File grievances and track their status.
View approved projects and financial transactions.
AdminHead (Municipality Head):
Reviews grievances and updates their status (Accepted/Rejected).
Requests funds from AdminGovt for project execution.
Creates and manages projects (e.g., contractor details, deadlines).
AdminGovt (Government Officer):
Approves or rejects fund requests from AdminHead.
Monitors grievance reports and project developments.
Oversees financial transactions and fund utilization.
Blockchain Data Flow:
Grievances, fund transactions, and project updates are recorded on the blockchain.
ERC20-based token system ensures secure, traceable fund transfers.
MetaMask authentication secures login and role-based access.
The project architecture and development process
Smart Contracts:
Implements role-based access using Solidity.
ERC20-compatible tokens manage fund transfers.
Immutable ledger ensures tamper-proof data storage.
Frontend (React.js):
Users interact via a clean, responsive UI.
Wallet authentication via MetaMask.
Backend (Node.js + Hardhat):
Handles contract interactions.
Stores user session data and handles API requests.
Blockchain (Ethereum - Sepolia Testnet):
Smart contracts deployed via Hardhat.
Transactions and contract calls executed via Ethers.js.
Product Integrations
MetaMask – Wallet authentication and fund transfers.
Ethers.js / Web3.js – Interacts with smart contracts.
Hardhat – Smart contract deployment and testing.
Ethereum Sepolia Testnet – Blockchain network for execution.
Key differentiators and uniqueness of the project
Transparent fund management: All transactions are publicly auditable.
Decentralized grievance tracking: Eliminates bureaucratic delays and manipulation.
Role-based access: Ensures that only authorized users can perform specific actions.
Blockchain-powered accountability: Immutable records prevent corruption.
Trade-offs and shortcuts while building
Smart contract optimizations pending: Gas fee reductions and performance improvements planned.
Limited AI automation: Future versions could integrate AI for grievance prioritization.
Token standard: Currently ERC20; considering ERC721 for additional functionalities like NFT-based approvals.
Additional Features
Grievance tracking system on blockchain.
Token-based fund allocation mechanism using ERC20.
Admin dashboard for real-time monitoring of grievances and funds.
