The problem Block-Dem-Chains solves

The purpose of the project is to make a decentralized resource sharing platform aimed for college ? /students ?‍? who can share/use those resources ? for academic purposes. The users need to register an account to use the services and can upload/view/download the resources. The resources are stored on IPFS and are accessible to everyone based on the post's CID ?. The users need to follow other users in order to view the content(to get post CIDs). The users can search other users by entering the users' addresses and follow them. Various metadata such as user data and CIDs are stored in a smart contract and the main data is stored in MongoDB. ?

Challenges we ran into

Frontend:
Metamask and Web3 integration

• For Metamask integration, we had to create a special Angular service that communicates with a globally created Metamask object.

Backend: IPFS and Smart Contract Development

• Due to the Centralization issue, we decided to shift the IPFS on the client-side (in the browser).
• We were not sure which aspects of data we wanted to add into Smart Contract due to gas utilization issue, later decided to only append metadata to tackle it.
