Every year, on Divine Mercy Sunday, which follows Easter Sunday, believers have a chance to deeply experience Christ’s mercy by receiving either a full or partial pardon for their sins.

What exactly is Divine Mercy Sunday?
It’s a special day dedicated to God’s endless mercy, first introduced by Pope John Paul II on April 30th, 2000, during the ceremony to declare Maria Faustina Kowalska a saint.

St. Faustina, a Polish nun, received messages from Jesus about God’s limitless mercy, which she called ‘divine mercy’ and was tasked with sharing this message worldwide, as noted in her diary, ‘Divine Mercy in My Soul.’

The late pope emphasized that Sister Faustina’s spiritual gift would guide people into the new era with the light of divine mercy. In June 2002, John Paul II encouraged the practice of divine mercy by granting full and partial pardons to those who follow specific religious acts on Divine Mercy Sunday.
