The problem beacon monitor bot solves
Beacon monitor bot
Our beacon chain monitor simplifies validator management by offering real-time tracking and alerts directly in a Telegram bot. With this tool, node opereators no longer need to visit websites or install new apps. With just one message to our bot, they get a complete overview of their validators' status, performance, and rewards.
Simplicity and Convenience
Instead of relying on external websites or complex tools, users can now monitor their validators right within Telegram. The bot provides a clean dashboard with all essential data:
🟢 178 | 🟡 0 | 🚫 1 | 🔚 0
Attestations: 99.17%
Eff. Balance: 178.042 GNO ($33,512.80)
APY: 8.91%
Claimable: 1.3539 GNO ($254.84)
Rewards:
----------------------------
| GNO xDAI Total
d | 0.0221 0.0440 $4.2095
w | 0.3069 0.1687 $57.928
m | 1.2940 0.5977 $244.17
GNO: $188.23

This dashboard provides real-time data on validator status, attestations, effective balance, APY, and claimable rewards. It also tracks both beacon and execution rewards, with breakdowns by day, week, and month.
Real-Time Alerts
If something goes wrong, the bot sends instant alerts, allowing validators to react promptly. This helps them avoid penalties, ensuring their validators remain active and profitable. Alerts are triggered for performance drops, validator inactivity, or any other issues.
User-Friendly
This is a user-friendly solution for tracking validator performance and rewards. Users do not need to understand technical aspects to grasp how their bot is performing. The intuitive interface makes it accessible for all experience levels, ensuring anyone can effectively monitor their validators.
Challenges I ran into
Understanding the Beacon Chain: My journey started with a deep dive into every aspect of the beacon chain to really grasp how it all works.
UI/UX Design: Presenting information in a way that’s both concise and clear was no easy task. It may sound straightforward, but making sure all the data is easy to understand took a lot of effort.
Infrastructure Setup: The biggest challenge was creating a setup that’s both cost-effective and simple. The beacon chain generates a massive amount of data, so my goal was to build a lightweight solution that could run on a cheap hosted platform. Currently running in dedicated cloud server < $30usd.
API Optimization: I focused on cutting down the number of requests to the QuickNode API to keep things efficient.
Task Coordination: Managing the huge data output from the beacon node and making the process auto-recoverable in case of any delays was another hurdle.
Configurable Code: Lastly, I needed the code to be adaptable with environment variables, so it could run across different beacon nodes. Right now, it’s set up for the Gnosis chain, but Ethereum support is on the way.
