Stories. Alphas. Anonymous. Secured by Base

The problem BaseStory solves

BaseStory is an on-chain anonymous communication platform. It lets users post, tip, and share feedback through disposable Sub Accounts fully verifiable on-chain but detached from their main identity. Powered by the Base Account SDK, it offers a seamless, “no pop-up” experience for gasless, private, and trustless social interactions.

Challenges I ran into

The Problem We Solve

Today's on-chain "social" landscape is broken. It's largely a collection of financialized actions (NFT mints, token trades) masquerading as a community, with two fundamental flaws:

Identity is All-or-Nothing: Users are forced to link their entire financial history and public identity (their ENS, their wallet) to every single interaction. This creates a chilling effect on genuine expression. You can't ask a "stupid" question, share a vulnerable thought, or give honest feedback when your permanent, public resume is attached.

**Communication is Not On-Chain: **"Web3" communities live on centralized platforms like Discord and Telegram. The core conversations, relationships, and social capital are being built on rented land, completely disconnected from the on-chain value and ownership that Web3 promises.

BaseStory is not another social dApp. We are building the foundational, privacy-preserving communication layer for the on-chain world.

What We Enable (Our Solution)

BaseStory provides the tools for verifiable, on-chain communication without sacrificing privacy. Our platform is a public good where anyone can express themselves, ask questions, and share information securely and permanently.

Use Cases:

For Creators & Influencers:

Problem: Collecting authentic community feedback and AMA questions is a logistical nightmare managed across Discord channels and Twitter threads, with no way to prove provenance or prevent spam.

Our Solution: Generate a permanent, shareable BaseStory link (e.g., basestory.app/to/cobie). Your community can send you anonymous, on-chain questions or comments. The entire conversation is public, permanent, and censorship-resistant, a true on-chain AMA.

For Builders & DAOs:

Problem: Gathering honest, critical feedback on a new product or governance proposal is nearly impossible. Users often self-censor to maintain social standing or avoid conflict.

Our Solution: Use a BaseStory link to solicit truly anonymous feedback. Because every message comes from a disposable, app-specific Sub Account, users can be completely candid, providing you with the unfiltered insights needed to build better products and communities.

For the Everyday User:

**Problem: **There is no "safe space" on-chain to simply speak your mind.

Our Solution: BaseStory is a public square where you can post stories, share alpha, or comment on events without attaching your primary identity. It's a place for genuine expression, powered by the security and permanence of the blockchain.

**How We Make It Possible (Our Technical Edge):
**
This vision is only achievable because we leverage the Base Account SDK to solve the critical UX and privacy hurdles that have held back on-chain social for years:

Privacy by Default: Every user interacts through a sandboxed, disposable Sub Account. Their primary identity is never exposed.

Frictionless Experience: After a single approval, all on-chain actions are instant and seamless. We've removed the pop-ups that make other dApps feel clunky, creating an experience that feels as fluid as a Web2 app.

By solving these core problems, BaseStory is not just making an existing task easier; we are enabling a completely new category of on-chain interaction to emerge.

What is your product’s unique value proposition?

Our unique value proposition is that BaseStory is the first platform to make on-chain communication both truly anonymous and genuinely usable.

While other platforms force a trade-off between privacy and experience, we deliver both.

For users, we are the on-chain safe space. You can finally speak your mind, ask a question, or share an idea on-chain without attaching your permanent public identity and entire financial history to every word.

For builders and creators, we are the on-chain truth layer. We provide the tools to gather unfiltered, verifiable feedback and questions from your community, free from the self-censorship and social dynamics of Discord and Twitter.

Unlike Web2 anonymous apps, our messages are censorship-resistant and permanent. Unlike other Web3 social dApps, our interactions are private and frictionless.

How does your alpha build demonstrate or validate this value?

Our alpha build is a live, functional validation of the two core technical pillars that make our value proposition possible: privacy by default and a frictionless user experience.

It Validates Our Privacy Model:

Our alpha already implements the core privacy primitive. Every user who connects is automatically issued a disposable, sandboxed Sub Account via the Base Account SDK.

When you view a story on our platform, the author is listed as an anonymous, app-specific address, not a public ENS name. This proves our ability to successfully sever the link between a user's primary on-chain identity and their content, which is the foundation of our "on-chain safe space."

It Validates Our Frictionless UX:

The biggest barrier to high-frequency on-chain social actions (likes, tips, short posts) is transaction fatigue. Our alpha completely solves this.

It uses the Base Account SDK's Auto Spend Permissions to create a "one-and-done" approval flow. A user can tip 0.1 USDC with a single signing pop-up that includes the "skip future approvals" permission.

Crucially, every subsequent tip, love, or post is instant and requires zero pop-ups. This isn't a theoretical feature; it is live and working in our demo. We have proven that on-chain social actions can be as fast and fluid as a Web2 application, which is a necessary condition for any on-chain social platform to succeed.

In essence, our alpha is not just a proof-of-concept. It is a working demonstration that the two hardest technical and UX challenges preventing the emergence of a true on-chain communication layer have been solved.

Who is your target customer?

Our target users are On-Chain Power Users people who live, work, and build within the crypto ecosystem. Initially, we focus on two high-value groups:

1. Web3 Builders & Project Teams, founders, developers, and DAO members who need honest, anonymous community feedback for better governance and product decisions.

2. Crypto Influencers & Anons traders and content creators who want to communicate freely and privately without exposing their main wallets.

How we confirmed it:
We validated this through personal experience as active Web3 builders and early qualitative feedback from our network during Base Builder Quest testing. Founders and community leads instantly recognized its value for AMAs, while traders and “anons” praised the privacy and authenticity Sub Accounts provide.

Who are your closest competitors and how are you different?

Our competitors fall into two categories: centralized Web2 anonymous platforms that have the UX but lack on-chain value, and decentralized Web3 social platforms that have on-chain value but lack true privacy and usability.

We are the only solution that delivers on all three: Anonymity, Usability, and On-Chain Verifiability.

Category 1: Centralized Anonymous Web2 Apps

These platforms validate the market demand for anonymous communication but are fundamentally flawed for the Web3 ecosystem.

**Competitor: NGL (Not Gonna Lie) - ** https://ngl.link/

What they do: A popular Web2 app that lets users generate a link to receive anonymous messages from their followers on social media.

How we are different:

Trustless & Verifiable: NGL is a black box. Users have to trust the company not to link their identity, and there is no proof that the messages are from real, unique individuals. BaseStory messages are on-chain transactions. This provides a powerful guarantee of authenticity and censorship-resistance that NGL can never offer.

Web3 Native: NGL is completely disconnected from the on-chain economy. BaseStory is a composable, on-chain primitive. Our platform can be integrated with other smart contracts, DAOs, and on-chain identity systems.

Competitor: Discord / Telegram (using anonymous accounts)

What they do: The current default for Web3 community communication.

How we are different:

True Anonymity vs. Pseudonymity: On Discord/Telegram, your "anonymous" account is still a persistent identity that can be tracked across servers and time. BaseStory's Sub Accounts are truly disposable and sandboxed, offering a higher degree of privacy.

Rented Land vs. Owned Platform: These are centralized, mutable platforms. Your community, your conversations, and your social graph can be deleted overnight. BaseStory is building on a credibly neutral, permanent, and open on-chain foundation.

Category 2: Decentralized Web3 Social Platforms

These platforms are on-chain but have failed to solve the core problems of privacy and usability.

**Competitor: Farcaster - ** https://www.farcaster.xyz/

What they do: A sufficiently decentralized social protocol. It is the current leader in Web3 social.

How we are different:

Privacy by Default vs. Public by Default: Farcaster is built around a public, persistent on-chain identity. Every action is tied to your main FID (Farcaster ID). This is great for building a public social graph, but it is the exact opposite of what's needed for truly honest feedback or anonymous expression. BaseStory is private-by-default, making us a complementary tool, not a direct competitor. We are the anonymous layer that the public-facing Farcaster ecosystem needs.

Frictionless UX: While Farcaster has made huge strides, many actions still require signatures or have noticeable latency. Our alpha's "no pop-up" experience, powered by the Base Account SDK, demonstrates a level of seamlessness that is a step ahead, specifically for high-frequency social interactions.

In summary: Web2 competitors have the anonymity but lack the on-chain soul. Web3 competitors have the on-chain soul but lack true anonymity and seamless usability. BaseStory is uniquely positioned at the intersection of all three.

What is your distribution strategy and why?

Our distribution strategy is ecosystem-native and partnership-driven. We are not trying to pull users out of Web3 and into our app; we are bringing our app directly to the platforms where our target customers Web3 builders and creators already live and interact.

This approach is capital-efficient, highly targeted, and builds on the composable nature of the Web3 ecosystem.

1. Platform Integrations: Meeting Users Where They Are

Our primary strategy is to embed BaseStory's functionality directly into the daily workflows of on-chain power users through a suite of mini-apps and integrations.

Farcaster Frame: We will build a Farcaster Frame that allows a creator to post "Ask me anything anonymously" directly in their feed. Users can type their questions into the Frame and submit them as an on-chain transaction to the creator's BaseStory inbox without ever leaving Warpcast.

Why it works: This is a viral, self-perpetuating loop. Every time a creator uses our Frame, they are exposing BaseStory to their entire audience.

Zora Mini-App: We will develop a Mini-App on Zora that allows artists and creators to attach a BaseStory link to their NFT mints. This transforms the mint page into a two-way communication channel, enabling collectors to send anonymous messages, questions, or feedback directly to the creator.

Why it works: It provides an immediate, value-add utility to Zora's core user base of on-chain creators, turning their mints into a community engagement event.

**BaseApp Browser Integration: ** Our goal is for BaseStory to be a featured application within the Baseapp . As a privacy-preserving communication tool built with the Base Account SDK, we are perfectly aligned with the vision of a native, mobile-first on-chain experience.

Why it works: This provides direct access to the most engaged users in the Base ecosystem and serves as a powerful endorsement from the platform itself.

2. Strategic Partnerships: Seeding the Network with High-Value Users

To bootstrap the network, we will partner directly with the "On-Chain Power Users" who feel our target problem most acutely.

Partnerships with Base Creators & Builders: We will identify and personally onboard the top 50-100 builders, artists, and influencers on Base. We will work with them to use BaseStory for their next community AMA, feedback session, or creative project.

Why it works: This is a "do things that don't scale" approach. Each successful, high-profile use case serves as a powerful piece of social proof and a case study that will organically attract other creators to the platform. We are not just acquiring users; we are acquiring influential advocates.

By combining deep platform integrations with targeted, high-touch partnerships, our distribution strategy ensures that BaseStory becomes an essential and visible part of the Base ecosystem's social fabric.
