Base Onchain Personality Embeddings
A set of embeddings trained from onchain data to better describe the unique characteristics, or "personalities", of each blockchain address on Base.
The problem Base Onchain Personality Embeddings solves
An onchain personality embedding is useful for building clustering and recommendation systems due to its unique ability to encapsulate immutable behavioral patterns and preferences. By embedding user interactions directly on the blockchain, we ensure transparency, security, and reliability in data capture. This approach facilitates accurate user segmentation based on real-time transactional behavior and smart contract interactions. These embeddings enable precise clustering of users with similar transactional histories and preferences, enhancing the efficacy of personalized recommendation systems. Ultimately, leveraging blockchain onchain personality embeddings empowers robust, decentralized systems that adapt dynamically to user behavior while maintaining integrity and trustworthiness.
Challenges I ran into
Fine-tuning a large language model (LLM) with blockchain data presents unique challenges rooted in the complex nature of blockchain itself. Unlike traditional text data, blockchain data is decentralized, structured in blocks, and primarily consists of transactional records, smart contracts, and cryptographic hashes. One of the primary hurdles is the diversity and volume of data sources; blockchain data spans various cryptocurrencies, smart contracts across different platforms, and decentralized applications (DApps). Ensuring the LLM comprehensively understands the specific language and context of each blockchain ecosystem requires meticulous preprocessing and feature engineering to handle specialized terminology like Merkle trees, consensus algorithms (Proof of Work, Proof of Stake), and cryptographic primitives.
Furthermore, the temporal aspect of blockchain data adds another layer of complexity. The model must capture evolving trends, sentiment shifts, and emerging protocols to provide accurate predictions or classifications. Moreover, privacy and security considerations are paramount due to the sensitivity of transactional data and public key cryptography involved in blockchain networks.
Effective fine-tuning demands a robust understanding of blockchain fundamentals coupled with advanced natural language processing techniques. This includes adapting transformer-based architectures to handle domain-specific nuances while optimizing hyperparameters to balance model performance and computational efficiency in processing vast amounts of blockchain data.
DISCLAIMER: This Base project leverages parts of existing work done within Google for the Ethereum mainnet. Due to the significant difference in the type of onchain data available, synthetic data generated using Ethereum mainnet data are used to populate certain category of transaction activities that are lacking on Base to ensure the trained embeddings generalize.
