Bargain

Bargain app revives Indian bargaining traditions, enabling real-time negotiations and community engagement. Empowering users with best deals,a say in shopping experience & sellers with brand building.

The problem Bargain solves

Bargain addresses several key issues prevalent in modern e-commerces, primarily focusing on building a shopping experience where customers have a say in prices of products they buy and Brands/sellers getting a chance to build reputation, loyalty and especially personalized engagement with users.

  1. Reviving the Art of Bargaining: In many cultures, bargaining was once a common practice deeply ingrained in the shopping experience. However, with the rise of fixed pricing and online shopping, this tradition has declined. Bargain seeks to revive this art by providing a platform where users can negotiate prices and feel empowered in their purchases.

  2. Empowering Consumers: Bargaining is not just about getting a lower price; it's about the feeling of empowerment and control over the transaction. By encouraging negotiation, Bargain empowers consumers to take an active role in their purchases and feel more satisfied with the outcome.

  3. a) Leaderboards: App consists of bargaining leaderboards where best bargainers would be entitled different tiers like platinum, gold, silver etc based on quality and quantity of their deals be it user or seller. This aspect adds a social element to the shopping experience, making it more engaging and enjoyable.

b) Building Community and Connection: Bargain goes beyond just providing a platform for negotiation; it also aims to build a community of like-minded individuals who share a passion for bargaining and value-adding connections.

  1. Brand Building like never-before: In Markets, they say " Let the product speak", Bargain aims to provide a platform to sellers where they can build their reputataion, not just by their products but their actions i.e. (providing best prices, leaderboard rating,a personalized brand profile on app where they can market their products within the e-commerce app) too.

Challenges we ran into

There were challenges varying from very basic things to scaling and logistics when this idea was being brainstormed.some of them are -

  1. Mrp vs Msp : In this model of e-commerce, mrp would be a blunder,so,we came up with Msp- most sold price which is median of all prices for which a paricular product was sold and a user might get a price lower than msp too.

  2. Three musketeers of price ranges- For this model to function properly , there must be defined ranges of prices which clarify as what is a reasonable price for a product and what is not, so, we came up with three ranges -

a) reasonable range- This range extends to a ceratin percentage of msp , both on upper and lower limits, varying for each product . Here, the app will itself provide a standard model for percentage depending on diiferent categories and products.

b) Non-reasonable range- Each price lower then lower limit of reasonable range falls under Non-reasonable range.

c) periphery prices- As the name suggests, prices falling just around above decided upper and lower limits where seller might consider to sell fall under this range.

  1. bargaining- It itself was initially a challenge but there was a framework found later where a user can accept a price or counter or reject the price. Now, only top bargainers in leaderboard mentioned earlier can counter beyond 2 times, which is one of the perks which top bargainer would enjoy.
