The problem 🍌Banana-OS ! solves
Banana-OS is a web-based identical port and parody of the Apple Mac-OS big sur, designed with the objective of giving people the option to try the mac-experience™ comfortable from the web-browser before breaking their bank on the apple ecosystem. It also aims to be a free-of-cost platform for aspiring future apple code monkeys to learn about the apple ecosystem and test their applications on it without having to invest in an expensive apple product to get started on their dev journey .
Challenges we ran into
We ran out of ironic banana puns by the second day .....
😋 Just kidding ! We faced quite a few hurdles on the development :
We had a lot of trouble in managing compatibility across different browsers, after about 12 hours of collevtive debugging we managed to get it working smoothly. Nevertheless, some features of the app are still broken in some browsers and requires special configurations to get it right. We plan to mitigate this by packaging our app into a docker image sometime in the near future to eliminate this problem entirely.
Hackodisha hackathon has been a very good experience of us as we gained a lot of experience on using git to collaborate on code , this in turn helped us save a lot of time on mitigating the above issues
