The problem AvaGuardian solves

The Avalanche Detection System project addresses the multifaceted challenges associated with avalanches, with a focus on saving lives, protecting infrastructure, optimizing emergency responses, predicting risks, raising awareness, and enhancing overall preparedness in vulnerable regions.

Challenges we ran into

  1. Mountainous regions exhibit dynamic and unpredictable conditions, including changing weather patterns, variable snowpack stability, and evolving terrain characteristics
  2. The reliability of the system heavily relies on accurate and available real-time data, posing challenges in obtaining precise information in remote or inaccessible areas
  3. Encouraging community engagement and raising awareness about avalanche risks involve overcoming language barriers, ensuring information accessibility, and fostering proactive community responses
