The problem Artour solves

The standard approach to art and media exhibits emphasizes visual impact and education. What makes an Artour different is that the user becomes the author of a unique story by engaging with the exhibit. It is experienced in augmented reality. We believe in interactive media experiences. Augmented reality opens the door to the future of galleries. What we mean by augmented reality is layering digital content over the physical world in a smartphone camera. You may have experienced this with Pokemon Go. We believe in the importance of emotion in art and media experiences. Our sponsor, imnotArt NFT Gallery, seeks to harness the power of emerging technologies to expand the boundaries of gallery spaces.

By overlaying augmented reality elements onto exhibitions and events, visitors will be able to delve deeper. They will tap into hidden layers of meaning and narrative as they reflect upon themselves. At the same time galleries and other hosts gain valuable insights on customer experience.

Artour:

  • Uses creativity and feedback to understand data better.

  • Helps grow an NFT art community.

  • Influences future art shows to match market needs.

Artour offers a two-sided service:

  • Serving brands and sponsors by increasing engagement in their communities

  • Creating memorable experiences for the user

Challenges we ran into

We encountered two main challenges. The first one was not sorting out the Eden API interface in time. It was challenging to stitch together an integrated experience into the Eden API interface in the time allotted. We intended to ask users questions with the Eden AI agent but we needed to go with a questionnaire on paper instead. We plan to continue integrating Eden and working with Humancore to continue enhancing user experience.

We lost a team member and had to pivot quickly. Two days before the deadline was a very short timeframe to not only find new images but also develop the exhibit text and pedagogical materials. Furthermore, we had already done a significant amount of curation and coding work using that team member’s images. But “the show must go on.” Very fortunately, we also had access to another set of curated images with an exhibit guide. The Chicago 1893 project we ended up going with for our prototype worked out great!
