A Vast Number Of Individuals Are Affected Each Year. An Estimated 160 Million Suffer From Work-related Diseases, And 270 Million Experience Work Accidents (Both Fatal And Non-fatal). Notably, Developing Countries Face A Disproportionate Share Of Fatalities.

Challenges we ran into

During the development of the Argus project, we encountered several challenges that required innovative solutions and troubleshooting techniques. One specific hurdle we faced was related to real-time data synchronization between the camera feeds and the Firebase database.

Challenge: Real-time Data Sync Bug
We initially experienced delays and inconsistencies in data synchronization, leading to inaccuracies in PPE detection and safety alerts. This issue posed a significant obstacle to achieving real-time monitoring and responsiveness.

Solution:
To overcome this challenge, we implemented the following strategies:

Optimized Data Streaming: We optimized the data streaming process by reducing latency and improving the efficiency of data transfer from cameras to the database. This involved fine-tuning network configurations and implementing data compression techniques.

Parallel Processing: To handle large volumes of data in real-time, we implemented parallel processing techniques to distribute data processing tasks across multiple threads or instances. This helped improve system responsiveness and scalability.

Batch Processing: For data-intensive operations, such as AI-based PPE detection and analysis, we implemented batch processing mechanisms to batch data for processing, reducing the workload on individual processes and improving overall system performance.

Continuous Monitoring: We set up comprehensive monitoring and logging mechanisms to track data synchronization performance, identify bottlenecks, and proactively address issues in real-time. This included setting up alerts for data sync failures or delays.

By implementing these strategies and continuously monitoring and optimizing our data synchronization process, we were able to overcome the real-time data sync bug and ensure smooth and accurate real-time PPE monitoring and safety management with Argus.
