The problem AquaHarvest solves
- Many people don't know the benefits of doing aquaponics or doing fish farm cultivation.
- Even if some realise the benefits, they don't know of proper good resources to actually start the cultivation
- Once you start the cultivation, the current methods takes time and is prone to trial and error doing the initial days
- You would need to manually go and check every often to ensure that the fishes are in good health
- Even once the fishes are in good health, the seller don't know how exactly to market them to potential customers
Challenges we ran into
- API Integration was a pain
- It was difficult to get data about popular fishes being sold near your location. We used web scraping from popular fish product aggrgator sites to show this instead
- Making huge customisations to existing MaterialUI components seemed to take more time than we initially anticipated. But eventually we got it all to work fine.
- We initially didn't know how to set up a vite project with replit
