AMBA
Protection you can feel. Power you can trust.
The problem AMBA solves
AMBA is an AI-powered, real-time safety ecosystem designed to protect women in critical situations through intelligent intervention, community trust, and predictive awareness.
Built with React Native, Expo, Node.js, and Firebase, AMBA blends cutting-edge technology with human empathy — creating a world where help isn’t minutes away, but seconds.
The current MVP focuses on Instant Intervention, delivering:
One-tap SOS & Shake-to-Alert (AMBA Touch™) for emergency activation.
PathSense™ — AI-powered SafeRoute navigation showing the safest paths using real-time safety scores.
SafetyScore AI — instant safety analysis for user routes and surroundings.
Nearest Shield™ — real-time detection of nearby police stations, hospitals, and verified safe zones.
Guardian Map — live location sharing with trusted contacts during emergencies.
AMBA’s future roadmap expands this into a complete ecosystem with IoT wearables (AMBA Connect+™), Blockchain-based Evidence Locker (TruthChain™), Verified Volunteer Network (Guardian Mesh™), and Anonymous Community Reporting (BridgeSafe™) — forming a global safety infrastructure that learns, predicts, and protects.
Mission Statement:
“We’re not building an app — we’re engineering a living ecosystem of safety, trust, and accountability.”
Challenges we ran into
Challenges We Ran Into
Even though our vision was clear, the execution came with real technical and strategic hurdles — each one teaching us something critical about designing for human safety.
Real-Time Synchronization:
Handling instant SOS updates across user and volunteer dashboards using Firebase required careful optimization to prevent lag and duplicate triggers.
Accurate Location Tracking:
Getting precise, low-latency GPS updates through Expo’s location API was challenging, especially when balancing speed and battery efficiency.
Sensor Integration:
Fine-tuning the Shake-to-Alert feature using accelerometer data was tricky — we had to prevent false triggers while keeping response sensitivity high.
Secure Data Management:
Managing sensitive information like user locations and contacts meant implementing strict permission handling, encryption, and secure data storage.
Designing an Emotionally Safe UI:
Safety apps aren’t just about code — they’re about trust. We had to design an interface that feels calm under crisis, intuitive enough to use even under panic.
Team Coordination Under Time Pressure:
As a 24-hour hackathon project, aligning design, backend, and frontend in real-time was intense. We had to simplify complex ideas while preserving impact.
