The problem AirQAlert : AQI checker website solves

Our project aims to address the pressing issue of air pollution by providing real-time air quality index (AQI) information for various locations. Air pollution poses significant health risks, affecting millions of people worldwide and leading to respiratory illnesses, cardiovascular problems, and other adverse health outcomes. By offering up-to-date AQI data, our platform empowers individuals to make informed decisions about their outdoor activities and take necessary precautions to protect their health. In instances where the AQI levels are high, indicating poor air quality, our system not only alerts users but also recommends specific precautionary measures tailored to the severity of pollution. Additionally, we provide suggestions for products that can be used to mitigate the effects of poor air quality, such as air purifiers, masks, and indoor plants known for their air-purifying properties. Our project aims to raise awareness about the importance of air quality monitoring and equip users with the tools and knowledge they need to safeguard their well-being in polluted environments.

Challenges we ran into

During the development of our web app, we encountered several challenges that tested our problem-solving skills and determination. One significant hurdle was integrating various APIs seamlessly into our application. Finding the right APIs that fit our requirements while being reliable and cost-effective proved to be a time-consuming task. We spent considerable effort researching and evaluating free APIs that could provide the functionalities we needed without compromising the user experience. Additionally, backend integration posed another set of challenges as we worked to ensure smooth communication between the frontend and backend components of our app. Despite these obstacles, our team remained resilient, collaborating closely to overcome these challenges and deliver a high-quality web app to our users.
