Aiding Onchain Adoption Locally Via Onchain Tools

People go for tools or platforms they understand especially if it has more to offer. This is why I'm taking Onchain tools to meet them where they are. Base is for everyone.

Why are you participating for Based Africa?

Africans are energetic people that go hard on anything they set their mind to. I know the level of positive impact these Onchain tools can create in the lives of every African using them yet only a few persons know such tools exists in the first place.

I thought about how content theft can be completely erased with the help of Onchain tools because these tools give creators the full right, access and control to their content. As a creator, you will decide wether to give people access to your content for free or for a fee.

And for the person minting and using the minted content, you can boldly use it because minting the content makes you the owner. With this understanding, there is tranquility without a middle man getting involved.

I told myself that I won't rest until everyone in my locality knows about these tools and by extension Africans at large.
As an educator, I know that participating for Based Africa will help me get this information across.

You can refer to this project as ''local impact''.

What challenges are you focusing on?

These are the challenges I will be addressing in my community with the help of base.

  1. Ignorance of the various Onchain tools for technical and non-technical builders.
  2. Needing a middle man to onramp/offramp cryptos.
  3. Lack of hand-on resources to help people get started on these tools.
  4. Inability to launch crypto projects on base as a result of not knowing how to get started or what is required.
  5. Those that find it difficult to learn new technologies or concepts online.
  6. Not knowing how to transition businesses or web2 skills Onchain.

How does your submission address this challenge?

My project is focused on helping my local community understand what these Onchain tools can do for them likewise helping them to get onboarded on base and get started on the tools of their choice. To address the challenges mentioned above, I will be matching my answers to the challenges as numbered respectively.

  1. With proper education and easy to understand videos that I share frequently on my platforms like drakula and X, over 700 people have watched these videos on drakula and over 15,000 people have viewed these educative content on X. This statistics shows a good number of people are getting enlightened throw my contents.
  2. An Onchain tool like onboard wallet solves the problem of needing a middle man to onramp or offramp cryptos. Every African needs to use yellow card because it makes transacting with other African countries seamless. This also makes vacation within African countries more fun.
  3. I made videos that explains how to signup and use these Onchain tools. This makes it easier for anybody to use and onboard as many people Onchain as possible. More videos on more tools will be uploaded on my drakula account soon.
  4. Meme coins are good means of onboarding people Onchain and empowering people with information that will guide them in creating successful projects is where the book I wrote comes in. BOOK of APE.STORE is about one of the profound launchpads on base(ape.store) and with the information in this book, anyone can launch a successful project.
  5. I held an IRL meetup to explain what these Onchain tools can do and equally helped everyone signup on the tools they need. This is a movement I intend to replicate in all tertiary institutions in my state and beyond. Over 10,000 students will be onboarded Onchain through this act in a year.
  6. A twitter space focused on showing people how to transition Onchain is a great way of addressing this. This series was launched before the buildathon and I will continue to host it until everyone gets Onchain.

Challenges I ran into

Everything was going well until I fixed an IRL meetup. The school I held the meetup at had a tragic incident. A student crushed three other students with his car inside the school premises. One died on the spot and the other two are currently fighting for their lives in the hospital.
This made the school management to suspend all academic activities. Many students had to leave school and this affected the turnup.
Then on the day of the meetup, it rained heavily thereby making it impossible for some people to travel down to the venue.
This almost gave me anxiety but I had to be strong for those that showed up regardless of all the challenges.
I overcame the anxiety by reminding myself that it is impact over hype, quality over quantity. I had to teach and deliver like I had hundreds of audience.

I created a WhatsApp group to follow up on everyone especially those that couldn't attend and with the help of the video I already created, they can signup on any tool they need. This has helped those absent at the venue to catch up.

Finally with the subsequent newsletters I will be publishing on paragraph everyone will stay up to date with the happenings on base.
