The problem AI Healthmate solves
AI Healthmate addresses multiple pressing issues in the current healthcare system by leveraging the power of artificial intelligence and smart integrations. Getting all this under one roof helps user save time by not switching tabs for each and everything. One of the primary problems it solves is the lack of timely medical intervention. Many individuals fail to receive prompt healthcare due to unrecognized symptoms, limited access to professionals, or delayed consultations. AI Healthmate tackles this by offering AI-driven disease prediction, allowing users to input symptoms and receive immediate, intelligent assessments. Additionally, the platform solves the challenge of ineffective health tracking by providing users with tools to monitor symptoms, maintain health records, and receive actionable insights.
Another key problem addressed is the difficulty in managing and interpreting medical data. AI Healthmate includes a Report Analyzer feature, which uses OCR and AI to interpret uploaded medical PDFs, offering easy-to-understand insights. It also caters to the needs of women through a dedicated women’s health section, including a period tracker and support for conditions like PCOS and PCOD.
Furthermore, AI Healthmate enhances accessibility and affordability by forming partnerships with hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic labs to offer users discounts and seamless medical data sharing. It reduces dependency on physical visits by offering remote support and guidance. Additionally, collaborations with wearable device companies are envisioned to further enhance health monitoring, enabling seamless syncing of user health data like heart rate and activity levels into the platform. In essence, AI Healthmate makes healthcare more predictive, preventive, personalized, and accessible, empowering users to take control of their well-being from the comfort of their homes.
Challenges we ran into
Managing all the functionality locally, such as processing medical reports or performing disease predictions without external services was a big deal. For example, implementing the report analysis feature with Flask and PyMuPDF could have been tricky, especially when dealing with large files or varying document layouts. To address this, I would suggest optimizing the text extraction process by focusing on pre-processing techniques like image enhancement for better OCR accuracy and breaking down large documents into smaller, manageable sections.
The project faced frequent server collapses due to working on localhost, where resources were limited and not optimized for large-scale operations. Additionally, configuring each server individually added complexity to the setup process, making it challenging to ensure smooth operation across all components, especially under heavy loads.
Another challenge we faced was when three of us worked on the project together. After transferring the program from one PC to another, it didn’t run as smoothly. There were compatibility issues and missing dependencies, which made it difficult to get everything working seamlessly on the new system.
A challenge we faced was the difficulty in collecting live data, as all of us are first-year students and lacked sufficient knowledge in handling real-time data collection processes. This gap in expertise made it challenging to implement the data collection feature effectively for our project.
