The problem AgroConnect solves

Local farmers are always competing with global markets. Consumers are more eager to know what they are buying, from whom when it has been produced, whether is it even fresh enough, or what production method has been used. Consumers would love to help producers like farmers, directly if they want to support what farmers do for the community by producing healthy food. This would also eliminate the middleman, increasing profits for both, and would also fulfill the need for more transparency in the agro-food industry and supply chain process.

• Reducing Food Waste: AgroConnect helps reduce food waste by eliminating the need for excess production and reducing the distance food travels from farm to table.
• Empowering Small-Scale Farmers: Small-scale farmers often struggle to compete with large-scale agribusinesses in the global market. They may not have access to the same resources or distribution channels, making it difficult for them to sell their produce at fair prices. AgroConnect provides them with a platform to sell without the need for intermediaries or large-scale distribution channels.
• Promoting Local Economies: By promoting the sale of locally-grown produce, AgroConnect supports local economies and encourages consumers to invest in their communities. This can have a ripple effect, as local farmers can reinvest in their farms, create jobs, and support other local businesses.

Goals :

• Eliminate middlemen in the agro-food supply chain and thus increase transparency in the whole process.
• Improve access to a wide range of fresh, local produce for consumers which may not be available at traditional retail outlets.
• Support sustainable agriculture by supporting small-scale farmers and promoting the sale of locally-grown produce.

Challenges we ran into

--> Had issues with the encryption levels during the authentication implementation using Django.
--> Securely integrating Blockchain to React using ethers.js
--> Had to migrate all the contracts from Goerli testnet to Sepolia testnet due to the low availability of Goerli ETH faucet.
