Create once. Earn forever. Even from robots.

The problem AgenTip solves

Imagine you spent three years writing about renewable energy. Every week, a new article. Deeply researched, carefully written, genuinely useful. Your traffic grows. You're proud of it.

Then one day you check your server logs and notice something strange. Thousands of requests. Not from readers — from bots. LLMs. Crawlers. AI systems pulling your entire archive, summarizing it, training on it, feeding it into products that charge $20 a month to people who used to read you for free.
You earned nothing from any of it.

This is not a hypothetical. It is happening right now, to every creator on the internet. 40% of web traffic today is AI agents. They consume content at a scale no human audience ever could. And the entire creator economy — built on ad clicks, on eyeballs, on human attention — has no answer for it.
There is no checkout. No paywall that an agent respects. No standard mechanism for a machine to pay for what it takes.

There was supposed to be. In 1991, HTTP 402 —* "Payment Required" *— was written into the web specification for exactly this scenario. It was shelved because the infrastructure didn't exist. For 34 years it sat there, unused, waiting.
We built the infrastructure.

AgentTip is a single script tag. Drop it on your website with your wallet address. From that moment, every human visitor sees a tip button and every AI agent gets charged — automatically, at the protocol level, with zero setup beyond that one line of code.

Humans tip with one click. Agents pay $0.001 USDC per request via x402, autonomously, before they get access. Everything settles on Base L2, wallet to wallet, with no platform taking a cut.

And because we believe creators deserve more than just money — they deserve to understand how their work is being used — every paying agent leaves a private intelligence note describing what it was researching. Stored encrypted on IPFS via Fileverse. Readable only by you.

We also built an ENS DeFi Will. Because creators are human, and humans don't live forever. Encode your beneficiaries into your ENS name. If you go inactive, your earnings distribute automatically on-chain to whoever you chose. Your work keeps giving, even after you stop.

The machines have been eating for free for years.

AgentTip sends the bill.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was x402 itself — the protocol is 6 months old, no production examples exist, and we had to figure out the entire request-response cycle, payment proof format, and replay protection from scratch by reading a spec that barely exists yet.

ENS Will execution sounds simple until you try to do it fully on-chain. Parsing comma-separated beneficiary strings and resolving multiple ENS names inside the EVM is gas-prohibitive. We ended up building a hybrid — backend reads and validates the ENS records off-chain, passes resolved addresses to the smart contract. Trustless enough, actually practical.

Fileverse dDocs use ProseMirror JSON internally. Appending agent intelligence entries without corrupting the existing document structure took way more debugging than expected — one malformed block and the entire doc breaks silently.

And honestly, agent detection is harder than it sounds. User-Agent strings are inconsistent, easily spoofed, and half the legitimate agents we tested didn't send them at all. We ended up building a multi-signal system combining User-Agent patterns, custom headers, and Accept header analysis just to reliably tell humans from machines.
