Hi there! I'm Hiroki Kawahara š
About Me
PhD candidate at Kagoshima University, exploring innovative ways to blend technology with everyday experiences. I'm passionate about creating interactive systems that push the boundaries of human-computer interaction, especially in the realm of food and physical computing.
What Drives Me
I'm fascinated by the challenge of making technology more intuitive and engaging. My research journey started with a simple question: "How can we make digital interactions more tangible?" This led me to explore various projects, from ultrasonic levitation systems to physical visualization of cyber attacks.
Cool Projects I've Worked On
š³ Food Interaction Technologies
- Levitation Printing: Created a novel food printing system using ultrasound levitation
- Magic Drops: Developed a system for creating and manipulating colored liquid balls in mid-air
- Flavor Fusions: Built an entertainment cooking device using ultrasound for unique flavor experiences
š Security & Community Projects
- Physical Visualization Map: Built an interactive installation visualizing cyber attacks (Exhibited at Maker Faire Kyoto 2023)
- Covid-19 Kagoshima Site: Contributed to local community support during the pandemic
- Security Camp: Participated in and later became a tutor for cybersecurity education
š¤ Robotics & Hardware
- Developed robots for competitions including CoRE:1 (The Championship of Robotics Engineers)
- Experience with digital fabrication tools (3D printing, laser cutting, CNC)
- Designed electrical circuits using KiCad
Current Areas of Interest
- Food Computing and Interactive Technologies
- Physical Computing and Digital Fabrication
- Human-Computer Interaction Research
- Open Source Development
