I am a second-year Computer Science student. I work as a blockchain developer in the University’s only student-run club[Nextech Lab].
I have developing dApps from past 6-months. I have won several hackathons including Accenture Blockchain Hackathon, NASSCOM Blockchain Challenge, and JIO TechGig Code Gladiators. During this period I have made several MVPs and POCs. These include:
Decentralized Ticket booking Application
Samikshasthal [Blockchain based review System on Android]
procEUra [Blockchain based e-Procurement platform]
AYUDA [Blockchain based Micro Lending Platform]
S.O.L.A.I.R.E. [Decentralized Energy Trading Platform]
A.) AYUDA was made during the Techgig Code Gladiators Hackathon. I was part of a three-member team. We were the runner-ups and were awarded Rs. 1 lac. We were the youngest team to participate there. It was here that I actually realized the power of Blockchains and how it can change millions of lives.
The jury was impressed by our protocols and the algorithms that we build for various purposes.
My part in the team to develop a unique algorithm for dynamic distribution of interest rate and implement it in the smart contract using solidity. I was also responsible for the frontend of the website and integration of smart contract using web3.js.
Some of the roadblocks we ran into and how we solved them:
-
Our algorithm was consuming a lot of gas per transaction. We overcame it by shifting some of our calculation to the frontend and then gave calls to our smart contract.
-
Payment gateway in a microlending platform was a must. We were not able to incorporate payment APIs as most of them were paid. So we made our own dummy-payment gateway using Node.js.

B.) procEUra was made for the TopCoder BSIC Incubator. I am proud of this project because during the development phase I learned that how can blockchain solve problems like corruption in a democracy. This was the first time I was developing a full-fledged platform which will be used by thousands of people and will help them by making their lives easier. This project was an example of the fact that blockchain and democracy go hand in hand. This project was also ensuring financial and digital inclusion of new bidders. My part was to develop the smart contract with two more members and integrate it, using Web3.js, with the frontend. I was also responsible for the ideation and the documentation of the project.
Some of the roadblocks we ran into and how we solved them:
- We were very new to the world of procurements, so we knew very little about how they exactly worked and hence their implementation in the smart contract was very difficult. We did some market research as individuals and then made each-other explain the process in their understanding to everyone else. Then we made a standard definition of a procurement and started coding it.
- A lot of financial terms were to be taken into consideration for each bid that came into the ecosystem and this again was costing us a lot of gas per transaction. So we devised our own scheduling algorithm which preprocessed and reduced the incoming bids on the main contract and reduced total gas consumed per transaction.
- Integrating IPFS for document uploads on the platform was also tricky as we were working for the first time with it. We were getting heavy network traffic on our node. But this got resolved as there were some bugs in the master repo itself. Although it wasted a lot of our time in knowing the actual cause. We learned that sometimes it's better to ask for help immediately.

C.) Samikshasthal is an android app which utilizes web3.j for integrating the smart contract with the android application. I was part of a four-member team. The one of its kind review system was one of the many features the application offered. We developed it during the Rajasthan hackathon 4.0. It was one of the largest hackathons sponsored by the Rajasthan Government. Our app got a special mention by the judges for using blockchain in such an innovative manner. We used AWS to deploy our application. My part in this project was to make the smart contract and integrate it using web3.j with the application.
Some of the roadblocks we ran into and how we solved them:
- Integrating Smart Contract using Web3.j was a big roadblock as I had very less exposure to Java. However, I got up to pace after reading the docs. It took me time to get a hang of it but then with my teams help I was able to code it through
D.)S.O.LA.I.R.E: I made this during the Accenture blockchain hackathon. We won the first prize worth INR 2lacs. We made a hardware demo which was connected to the blockchain and was remotely operated using MQTT protocol.
