Charles Freeborn

Charles Freeborn is a smart contract developer, an independent technical writer and trainer, an open-source contributor to the Ethereum docs, and a keynote speaker, based in Warri, Nigeria.

Charles is the founder of web3 Warri - a community of blockchain (and smart contracts) developers, open source contributors, blockchain researchers and anyone whose interested in building the next generation of the internet.

He loves the web and the tremendous opportunities the web has given him. And being able to contribute to the web as a developer and a technical writer from Warri, Nigeria, is a humbling experience for him.

He has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Portharcourt and has been on this journey for over 5 years. He loves writing in the simplest of terms and forms. And this is why at the core of his writings is explaining in the simplest of terms, complex technical concepts.

He has had the honor of working with teams spread across the world with different time zones.

He is actively involved with developer communities as a volunteer and organizer. He started the Google Developers Group, Warri Nigeria in 2018, and grew the community to a membership strength of one thousand plus. He is currently the partnerships and sponsorship lead for the GDG Warri.

Charles transitioned into web3 and blockchain in 2021 when he joined Protocol Labs helping the team with IPFS, and Filecoin. At Protocol Labs he worked as a content strategist and a developer advocate, speaking at conferences across the African continent to help introduce developers to IPFS and Filecoin.
