Thomas Bertani

Previous to starting my own projects, I worked several years on embedded systems and high performance computing on GPUs, while being a full-time computer science student. In late 2012, I joined the crypto industry. In these early days, I worked at Cointerra (employee #4) on the designing of bitcoin ASIC miners and on managing 5% of the global bitcoin hashrate. And, I founded Bitboat (acq. 2017), among the leading Bitcoin onramps in Italy and France.

In 2015, I invented the oracle API-callback structure that became the de-facto standard we still use today and I founded Oraclize (acq. 2019), the first oracle used by hundreds of dApps. Building on its success, I launched pNetwork, the first trust-minimised cross-chain bridge that grew to reach over a Billion Dollar transactions processed.
In 2023 I co-founded Substance Labs, where I have been working on Hashi and on other interoperability efforts.

I am a strong supporter of the crypto industry - I represented the industry at the EU parliament commission and UK House of Commons, I was a guest lecturer at Universities around the world and a speaker at 200+ events.
