Heavy rains paralyze the city's transport network, while our phones are flooded with a chaotic mix of scattered official updates and viral, often false, rumors on WhatsApp. This information overload leaves millions of commuters stranded, anxious, and unsafe. Our project, Pravas Mitra (Travel Friend), is designed to solve this problem by serving as a centralized, trusted, and proactive commute companion. Pravas Mitra is an agentic AI that moves beyond passive data aggregation. Its core purpose is not just to show information, but to synthesize it into actionable intelligence and take decisive actions on behalf of the user to ensure a safe and efficient journey. Our agent will be engineered to perform three critical, proactive functions: Proactive, Personalized Alerts: The agent constantly monitors a user's saved daily commute (e.g., Andheri to Churchgate). Before the user even leaves home, the agent analyzes real-time data and proactively sends a personalized WhatsApp alert: "Heads up! The Western line is running 20 mins late due to waterlogging at Bandra. We recommend you leave 30 minutes early or consider taking the Metro." This shifts the user from being reactive to proactive. Intelligent, On-the-Fly Route Re-planning: During a journey, a user can ask the agent a simple question like, "What's the best way to get from Powai to Lower Parel right now?" The agent will analyze all real-time variables traffic, train status, road flooding, and available transport modes to instantly calculate and provide the safest and fastest multi-modal route, complete with instructions. Real-Time Rumor Debunking: To combat the deluge of misinformation, users can forward any viral WhatsApp message or rumor directly to the Pravas Mitra agent. The agent will instantly cross-reference the claim with its live feed of official sources (from Mumbai Police, BMC, and Railways) and reply with a verification status, such as: "This message is FALSE. As of 5 minutes ago, the Central line is operational with minor delays." By consolidating dozens of scattered sources into a single, reliable voice, Pravas Mitra directly tackles the core pain points of information fragmentation, misinformation-driven panic, and the lack of personalized guidance. It aims to transform the daily Mumbai commute from a source of stress and uncertainty into a safe, predictable, and informed experience.
