Sumit Sen

My name is Sumit Sen. I am a pre-final undergraduate at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. During my stay at IIT Kharagpur, I have worked on various technical projects and held multiple responsibilities, which has helped me develop various technical and leadership skills. In the process, I have become a self-driven individual who loves to take up challenges and produce the desired outputs. If given the opportunity, I am confident that with my abilities and hard work, I can bring significant results for the work given.

As a financial analytics research associate at the University of Iowa, I worked on developing a machine learning model to predict the return on assets risk premiums. This project gave me a great understanding of the concepts of Machine Learning viz., Regression Models, Decision Trees, Neural Networks, BART, Dimensionality reduction techniques with Hyper-tuning tools like GridsearchCV.
As a technical intern at Abhibus, I worked on the automation of the ops team and analysis of various competitors, which helped me acquire knowledge in the domains of data scraping, usage of APIs, Python, and various frameworks required to understand the problem.
I also participated and became a finalist of the Cloud4C hackathon, where we worked in the field of NLP to develop an ML model to predict the type of GST fraud.
Problem-solving and critical thinking has always been an important and interesting skill to me which I have never left an opportunity to acquire. By solving various case studies, I have also developed these skills a lot. I was an accredited winner in the Wall Street Case Challenge, Regional finalist of Hult Prize, as well as a Global Finalist in Solvay Business Game.
