I worked on an blockchain based electronic health record system using hyperledger. Realized that the blockchain isn't necessarily good as a database but however it can be used as something to keep track of what documents are where and to ensure that documents haven't been tampered with.
But the project that I am most proud of would be an induction based angle encoder for an electric hub motor. More simply its a mechanism to measure the angle of the rotor with respect to some reference using coils and a metallic target which interacts with the magnetic field of the coil and changes in inductance of the coil can tell how much metal or how far the metal is. Challenges faced were:
The sensing technology to be used (what physical quantity when measured would give the lowest latency and highest accuracy).
Incorporating the sensors to be able to figure out the angle. i.e the shape of the target.
Had to figure out how to program micro controllers, something I had no prior experience with.
Filtering the noise in the sensor reading on account of vibrations and eccentricity of the target.
