David Misango

A dedicated Mechatronic Engineer skilled in Embedded Systems, Automation, Electrical & Electronics. I am Proficient in multiple programming languages, including C/C++, Assembly and Python. I also have strong analytical problem-solving abilities and a passion for emerging technologies.
My latest project involved developing an autonomous guided system for real-time inventory management in a warehouse setup. The system was equipped with a stereo camera, an IMU sensor, and an Ultra High Frequency RFID module to detect and track RFID-tagged inventory items. The system was implemented using ROS2 (robot operating system) Mapping and Navigation packages, specifically RTABMAP and the ROS2 nav2 stack to navigate and autonomously inventory the RFID-tagged items. The Data from sensors and cameras was streamed to a PC, which acted as the server, providing real-time data processing. This project allowed me to apply my skills in embedded systems, robotics and Linux firmware development since both the mobile system and the host server are running on Ubuntu 22.04.
Besides projects, I have also been fortunate to get the opportunity to share my knowledge and mentor others in embedded systems and robotics during my time at Dedan Kimathi University, specifically Robot Operating System (ROS) in the Robotics and Automation Society.
I also have research experience where I carried out research on Automotive ECUs in the Ministry of Mechanical and Infrastructure under the Regional Mechanical Engineer.
