From putting my hairclip in the socket and switching it on to see what happens at the age of six, to recreating Young's double slit experiment at home to understand the crux of it, I have always been driven by curiosity. To keep it alive and to get the essence of research, I joined the Next Tech Lab, a student run research lab at my university. My love for Astronomy started at a very young age and although I'm a first year Computer Science student, in a field that's not too closely related to Astronomy, I learnt that Machine Learning does have a role to play in this field. This gave me a renewed vigour and I am currently working on a project to generate images of galaxies using GANs.
I have always had a love for Physics and I attended various seminars and science camps in the last few years of my school life. I wrote an Extended Essay on the subject too.
Creativity has been a driving force as well. I love art and want to use ML and AI to create a variety of artwork. I have recently been exploring the avenues of OpenCV for the same purpose.
Helping people has been very special to me, so I try to add a personal reason behind some of my projects. My very first project idea developed when I realised my friend, who is colour blind, had a problem recognising colours during his regular practical classes. I wanted to help him at least identify which solution was red and which was green so that he could write the correct answer. So, I worked with my friend to create a model using KNN that would recognise colours. I am working on improving it so that it is far more precise and useful.
I am also passionate about Equality and Feminism. Using my current field, I want to help and support the minority communities. For this, I have already planned my next project idea which includes detecting cyber bullying targeted at minority communities using CNN.
I have created my own roadmap for a year or two, which goes step by step at learning various algorithms and models, each having a project idea to make it interesting and giving me a deeper reason to go ahead with it.
