Hello! I am Abhishek Jha, a student of Computer Engineering in K.J Somaiya College of Engineering. I started programming in High School (Junior College) when I did Computer Science as a vocational course for 2 years(2015-17), I learned Visual Basic, C language, Basic HTML and 8085 Assembly language. Right from the beginning I was fascinated by the power of programming, the power of creating systems to do things and ease human life by writing some lines called code in a language called programming language and so I also started applying my programming knowledge as I was beginning to learn it. I created a program in Visual Basic to help school students with Math, the program covered the entire Mensuration chapter(Chapter on different geometrical shapes) of Standard 10. Though very naive and simple, that was the first ever program I created on my own, something apart from my syllabus in college and that’s how I began to see coding as a potential source to help people out with whatever they find difficult and that led me into choosing Computer Engineering after I passed my High School. Here at K.J Somaiya College of Engineering I learnt and I am still learning a lot about programming and I started competitive programming. I am currently working on various projects which are in various levels of development including creating a website to help people suffering from Depression to come out of it. I audited a course on Android App Development in college.I am fascinated by the technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Big Data Analysis and look forward to learn and work in these fields as and when opportunities cross my way.
Everytime I go to a Hackathon my primary goal is to learn new types of programming skills and explore new avenues in computer technology, winning is secondary. According to me getting an opportunity to explore your programming skills with so many amazing and creative minds around is the best part about Hackathons. Apart from Hackathons I’ve also participated in Ideathons, I along with my team reached the National Level Final Round(Top 10) in “Smart City Ideathon” in March 2019. Being able to create something new is what keeps me motivated to participate in Hackathons. Apart from programming I've an interest in various fields. I follow, read and learn about various subjects such as Politics, History, Geography, Economics, Finances, Current Affairs, International Relations, Geopolitics, Mythology, etc. I am also fond of writing I did an exposure course in college on Creative Writing. I also have some experience in Dramatics.
I participate in a lot of competitions, seminars and events related to Debating and Public Speaking those include Model United Nations, Art of Mooting(Arguing in courts of law), Youth Parliaments(Ranked 7th in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai region in District Youth Parliament, January 2019) and currently I’m the Co-Chief- Debating in Illuminati, The Literary and Debate Council of K.J Somaiya College of Engineering which organizes events throughout the year, including major ones like The Big Somaiya Debate, Colloquium, Syaahi(Literature festival of K.J Somaiya College of Engineering) and many more.
Sometimes I also write to various Government organisations including the Prime Minister’s Office(PMO) on various issues surrounding us in my attempt to contribute to the community I belong to. I try to keep contributing to society and the world around me and as I’ve said earlier I see programming as a very powerful and effective way to do that.
I am hopeful of getting selected for this Hackathon and will grab the opportunity to explore the world of competitive programming and software building by both hands if given a chance. I look forward to work with you guys in the Hackathon with my team on an exciting new topic, explproing an exciting new avenue in Computer Technology.
The final goal is always to be more creative.
