Hey, I'm Sheng Kuan 👋

Computer Science undergraduate at Universiti Malaya (Faculty of Computer Science & IT), based in Malaysia. I build software that turns messy real-world data into a decision someone can actually act on — and I ship it end to end rather than leaving it at the prototype stage.

What I've built

  • SubSense — a subscription-churn platform built for Hack Attack 3.0. Ingests fragmented usage, billing and support data into one customer profile, predicts churn ~60 days out with an XGBoost + SHAP model, and triggers the right retention action. I co-wrote the full business proposal and worked on the system design.
  • WhatsApp Sales Tracker Agent — an LLM agent that reads plain-language messages in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese (or all three mixed in one sentence), parses them into structured sales activity, and writes to Google Sheets behind a mandatory human confirmation gate. Nothing is ever written without a "yes".
  • WorldQuant BRAIN — Alphathon — quantitative alpha research: writing signal expressions, testing them against Sharpe/fitness/turnover gates, and iterating through far more rejections than passes.
  • Smart Library System — owned the shared ADT interface that four teammates' modules depended on, and delivered it ahead of deadline so nobody was blocked.

Why blockchain, and why MUBA

My other obsession is markets. I keep a working research vault on trading and quant strategy — market-cycle stages, factor neutralization, signal decay, correlation limits — so the ideas underneath DeFi (liquidity, risk pricing, structured yield, stablecoin mechanics) are already the things I read about for fun.

What I haven't done yet is ship them on-chain. That's exactly why I'm here. I'd rather learn a new stack under a real deadline, with a real team and real judges at the end of it, than watch another tutorial. MUBA Hack is the first large-scale student-led Web3 hackathon in Malaysia, and I want to be in the room for it.

How I work

I read the rubric before I write the code. I'd rather ship the 20% of scope that carries 80% of the demo than half-build everything and have nothing that runs on pitch day. I'm comfortable being the person who owns the boring shared piece — the interface, the data layer, the thing everyone else depends on.

Stack

Python · Java · SQL · FastAPI · React · XGBoost / SHAP · Git & GitHub · AI agent building · data analysis

Languages: English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese — all fluent, which has been genuinely useful for pitching to a mixed room.
