I am currently in my second year, pursuing B.Tech from Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women, with Computer Science as my major. I am an avid Android Developer and an open source enthusiast. Currently, I am working as a Teaching Assistant for Android Application Development with Coding Blocks where our prior aim is to bridge the gap between industrial expertise required and skills that are imparted by conventional institutes. So far, I have mentored more than 100 students and administered their growth by providing hands-on experience required to develop core programming concepts. I am also selected as a ‘Learn IT Girl’ Mentor for Android development in Kotlin. 'Learn IT Girl' is a mentorship program for women around the globe which aims to fulfill Anita Borg's vision of a productive dialogue about advancing women in technology. It helps girls to learn how to code and complete a project within 12 weeks.
I recently worked on a project in building a Psychological Assistance Module in to assist psychologist fight against depression. So, we build this module in two parts- One consisting of the assistant module that breaks the psychological sessions into emotions, sentiments, and keywords and use that information to train the modules in assisting the psychologist. The second part consisted of the Android Application that helped the user and psychologist put this information to use and curb the hitch patients face while approaching a psychologist. They also aim at promoting self-help groups and provides a platform for users to discuss their problems. My part included developing Android applications and using the trained modules to provide help for patients. I honed my app development skills, provided a good user interface and used Firebase for enhanced program functionalities. I learned the basics about using cloud services and Amazon Web Services API’s that were used in my model.
Apart from coding and learning new technologies, I like to guide and inspire women in tech. I started the wing “Women Hacks” in my university, which empowers women in technology to learn and develop new skills in accordance with the industrial requirement and create awareness about opportunities that help accelerate their growth. I actively lead the programming circle of ‘Techsters’-the coding community at my university and am currently working on implementing ways to help freshman students be a part of student circles and enjoy programming. I aim to help this community overcome the hardships women face.
Inspired by the way technology advances and influences lives, I pursued my career in computer science to challenge my analytic abilities and revolutionize society positively. This passion to develop mobile applications and a keen interest in exploring other technologies that enhance my skill drive me to meet like-minded people and build a strong network with my peer developers to learn and innovate.
