Current underwater systems are forced to trade off between communication quality,
mobility, and stealth. Tethered platforms provide reliable high-bandwidth
communication but suffer from high drag, noise, and poor maneuverability, while
untethered systems rely on low-bandwidth, high-latency acoustic links that are
vulnerable to interference and unsuitable for precise, real-time control. As a result,
there is no practical underwater solution that enables continuous high-bandwidth
communication, low observability, and reliable human operator control in contested
maritime environments
