I am a Visual Media Scholar turned Full Stack Developer. While writing a doctoral dissertation on experimental American aesthetics I completed a web development certificate at the University of California, Riverside. I’m a creative problem solver, rabid maté drinker, and undeterred bug sleuth. I enjoy building things that people find helpful and interesting. I grew up in a family that built small businesses from scratch, so I can appreciate the entrepreneurial spirit and the importance of self-motivation, especially in approaching complex, long-term projects.
I have experience developing full stack web applications using HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript (ES6). I have built elegant UIs using jQuery and the CSS preprocessor Less and have testing experienced using Jest. I am conversant in Git workflows and have collaborated on Github with other developers, product designers, and clients through the entire lifecycle of software development.
As a PhD researcher and teacher I have over eight years of experience working on a tri-monthly cycle of hard deadlines. I am a self-motivated, fast learner who flourishes when I am balancing multiple, time-sensitive collaborations and interesting challenges.
As a developer I enjoy exploring and experimenting with new technologies. Working with a small, remotely operating team, I recently developed a mobile responsive full stack web application that tracks warehouse merchandise and visualizes their locations. The app was built with MongoDB, Node/Express, Context API, and React. In order to implement the visualization technology, I taught myself how to use a diagramming software, created a custom floor plan, and converted it into a React component to dynamically visualize the data.
As a PhD researcher and teacher I have over eight years of experience working on a tri-monthly cycle of hard deadlines. I am a self-motivated, fast learner who flourishes when I am balancing multiple, time-sensitive collaborations and interesting challenges. I thrive when given the opportunity to cultivate my own curiosity and creativity, especially when these inherent drives help others. For these reasons I am very excited about the prospect of participating in Hacktrix!
