If you’re trying to think of places to visit in Sharjah, Shees Park might not be the first thing that comes to mind. But after visiting this beautiful outdoor park, you’ll see why it should be at the top of your list. From the gorgeous flowers and bird watching to the serene ponds and waterfalls, here are all the reasons you should make Shees Park Sharjah in Khor Fakkan your next Sharjah travel destination.

Have you ever been to Khor Fakkan? Even if you haven’t, you may have heard of a place called Shees. It’s a popular beach in Khor Fakkan, but it also has another attraction; they call it: The Shell Park. Don’t be fooled by its name though!

How to get there

Shees park is located in Khor Fakkan, one of UAE’s emirates. Khor Fakkan has its own bus route so there are a lot of buses that drive through to khor fakkan from different parts of UAE. The best way to get there though, if you do not have a car, would be to take a taxi from Dubai Airport or from any other part of Dubai and tell them you want to go to Shees Park.

Get there before 6 pm

Shees Park, located at Khor Fakkan in Sharjah, is known for its large mangrove trees and its wide open spaces. However, what most people don’t know about it is that there are different species of wild animals that make it their home during some parts of year. If you’re one to spot an osprey or a kingfisher in your back yard, Shees Park could be an excellent place to check out these wonderful birds.

Where to eat

There are also various cafes located within Shees Park Sharjah such as: Al Quds (Khor Fakkan), Pizza Hut, Dominos Pizza, McDonald's, Subway and others. These are located within easy reach from 'Majlis' - covered seating area, there are also many different types of trees and plants grown throughout, which adds to its beauty. There is a small bridge connecting one side of Majlis with another - it gives an enjoyable walk while getting fresh air.

Things to do while visiting Shees Park

A small oasis right in Khor Fakkan, Shees Park offers a variety of activities. It's one of our favorite spots because you can bike on one side and walk on another. You can even rent paddle boats if you want to get out on Lake Zayed. They also have picnic areas for families and friends, making it a great spot for hosting birthday parties or just spending a few hours with your loved ones. Best of all?

What to bring with you

There are a few things you should remember when packing for your trip to Shees park. The first thing on that list is sunscreen. You don’t want to regret not bringing it once you arrive and have burned over half of your body because you forgot about it! Be sure to bring a hat as well, especially if you plan on going during sunset or sunrise, which tends to be a bit cooler at those times than mid-day. Something else worth mentioning is a camera.

Tips on how to spend your time at the park

Many people often overlook Sharjah’s hidden gem, Shees Park. While it lacks a colorful history like Qasr Al Hosn or an extravagant renovation like Madinat Zayed, for many it's a local favorite that's not to be missed. With its close proximity to Khor Fakkan and affordable entry fee (currently 2dhs per person), you could easily spend your whole day at Shees with friends and family.
