Heeral Dedhia

I, Heeral Dedhia, am an undergrad in the 3rd year of engineering pursuing Computer Engineering. I am keen on learning new Web and Application Technologies. I inclined towards learning advanced Web Development, Big Data Analysis, and Machine Learning. I love learning new technologies and working on projects where they can be applied to solve real-world problems.

Skills –
Python is my major programming language. I have worked on the Angular Framework earlier and am currently exploring the Django Framework. I am proficient in Python, Java, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, PHP. I have worked with MySQL, PostgresSQL, and MariaDB. I have worked on developing an interactive Learning Management System on top of Moodle.

Experience –
My previous projects include - Online Quiz System which was built using Java Swing, Automated Pizza Ordering System 'Heiti's Pizzeria' using database connectivity with MySQL where I used HTML5, CSS, Materialize framework, JS, jQuery. Brain Controlled Wheelchair (on-going hardware project), an IoT based project which uses brain-wave signals as a trigger and to control and automate tasks is done under the guidance of one of our faculty members from Comps department. We have qualified the regionals of e-Yantra competition by IIT Bombay and are preparing for the semi-finals. We have also qualified the quarter-finals of Texas Instruments - India Innovation Challenge Design Contest (IICDC 2019). In this project, I manage the software program of the entire wheelchair prototype. I have learned concepts of embedded systems and IoT in this project apart from python programming and Android App development. We are going to implement Machine Learning in our next version of the prototype. In my winter internship at Sai Estate Management and Skills Institute, I worked in the LMS system on top of Moodle and also developed a website for the same.

Extra-curriculars –
In terms of extracurriculars, I have been a part of BloomBox - the entrepreneurship cell of KJ Somaiya College of Engineering for the past 2 years. I was earlier in the Marketing Wing of BloomBox and this academic year I am the Vice-Chairperson of the council. I have contributed to the website of our council and along with a colleague, we finished the project within a time-span of 2 months. I am pursuing a course on Business Analytics in the 6th Semester, and I have completed a course on Big Data Analytics using PySpark.

Hackathons –
We reached the finals in the hackathon we participated in - CSI HackIt 2.0 where we implemented a real-time system that helps investors find potential start-ups based on a number of parameters and hence find the most appropriate start-up for the individual investor. We were amongst the top 7 teams in the final round out of over 60 participating teams. In the recent hackathon ERR_404 3.0 we worked on a smart chatbot using Machine Learning.

I believe hackathons are an amazing opportunity to come up with interesting ideas to critical problem statements, code, debug, network, learn and work together in a team !
Hoping on being able to apply the technical knowledge I have acquired to solve problems and make the world a little better.
