Deepthy Rose Jose

I am Deepthy Rose Jose, currently master’s student in Research from Haptics Lab, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and a Meta XR Open-Source Fellow 2023. My area of specialization is Extended Reality, Computer graphics and Storytelling. I look forward to creating applications which merges disruptive techs such XR and AI where I can contribute to the development of solutions that can revolutionize the way we interact with virtual and augmented reality environments.

I always actively sought out opportunities to learn and implement technical skills. My love for the medium has garnered me opportunities such as Summer Research Assistantship position in Augmented Environments Lab from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta. My industrial candidacy in IIT Madras led to development of two medical training products that feature an immersive environment with haptic feedback – PrIDE Sim and CardioSim – where both received National Research Grants

I have served several roles in student technical societies. My recent roles include- Interactive Developer in the Avishkar Hyperloop team and as the Core for Research Connect team, where I worked towards bridging the gap between the research community and Industry. My course and personal projects include the development of Project North Star (open-source augmented reality headset by MIT), Audio to Tactile perception on mobile devices, and rehabilitation approaches in the VR metaverse.

My initiative and leadership were further recognized by my selection among the top 100+ students worldwide to the Micron Global Women Mentorship program, wherein Tecla Ghilhardi mentored me. Recently, I received the Meta XR Open-Source Fellowship Program 2023 where I was Accepted into the top 100 candidates out of over 10,000 applicants and 2,500+ project proposals after rigorous rounds of interviews which is initiated by FICCI and supported by Meta.

In addition to my technical skills, I am a strong communicator and collaborator who works well in a team-based environment. I believe that clear communication and effective collaboration are essential for developing successful projects, and I am committed to working closely with my fellow team members to achieve our goals.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that my skills, experience, and passion for XR AI make me an ideal candidate for your Hackathon. I am excited about the opportunity to work with other talented professionals to create innovative solutions that push the boundaries of what is possible with XR AI.
