New Delhi, India
I am experienced in Python, C++, OpenCV, SciPy, MySQL. I am also familiar with Java, Matplotlib, NumPy, Latex, Tensorflow APIs.
I am a fast learner and would be eager to learn about new languages/frameworks. The passion to learn more about technology and meet new people is what drives me. I took the first step on the ladder towards achieving my goals by participating in one of India’s biggest hackathons(Smart India Hackathon 2018). Our team wanted to start a new tradition as nobody from my college had ever participated in a hackathon. I took the lead to motivate my fellow teammates to participate in the competition.
Our idea was to build a Ballistic Recognition Tool for the forensic science department which will be used to detect the similarities between two bullets fired for the same firearm and will bring a considerable upgrade in their system to identify crime suspects. As a part of the team, I implemented Feature matching Function of OpenCV Library on the dataset as well as implemented the Structural Similarity Index method for comparing the similarities in a set of bullets. The Technical Stack I used was Python, Matplotlib, OpenCV, NumPY.I was curious to work on this as there wasn’t any prior research or work in this.
Initially, I spent time exploring my strengths to compete against teams from the country’s most prestigious colleges.
My urge to perform grew with every obstacle I faced and I wanted to prove what I preached. Our team finally won the ‘best innovation award’ and I got the opportunity to intern with Ballistic Division, Forensic Science Laboratory as a Research and Development Intern.
Looking back on to it, I am glad I took the initiative to fight against the odds which helped me realise my core strengths and improve my personality and skills. I was happy with how my team and I could revolutionise the mindset of our professors which was earlier restricted to only attending classes. I learnt to push my limits to a greater extent and to handle pressure to perform. After working on this project for the Forensic Department. I learnt about image processing using python and openCV and also with plotting the region of interest and comparing them using Matplotlib for a set of images of the bullet to find out similarities between them.
HackintheNorth will be a fruitful platform for me to test my capacity and step out of my comfort zone and push myself towards new challenges. I wish to transform my ideas and creativity into something exquisite and ‘change the world with a code’.
I want to collaborate and share my opinions and innovation with different people from peers to experts and be a part of the hacking community.
