Unfold 2023 Hackathon: A Web3 Wonderland

Just last week, we hosted the Unfold 2023 hackathon in partnership with CoinDCX for one of India's largest multi-chain hackathons, and it was a rollercoaster of innovation and fun. The Unfold 2023 hackathon brought together a diverse array of bounty sponsors, contributing a remarkable $85,000 in bounties and prizes — CoinDCX, Sui Network, Avalanche, Wormhole, Okto, Self Chain, Liminal - Custody Solutions, Superteam, Push Protocol, Router Protocol, and Spheron Network.

Now, let's dive deeper into the hackathon highlights and celebrate the innovative ideas that emerged.

🛠️ Setting The Stage

The first day of Unfold 2023 was filled with palpable excitement as participants gathered to kickstart the hackathon. We began with the check-in process, where wide-eyed developers embarked on their creative odyssey, eagerly awaiting the chance to make their mark on the world of Web3. And make a mark they did, as teams formed and ideas began to take shape, setting the stage for what was to come.

To add to the excitement, Unfold 2023 had the honour of hosting a special guest appearance from none other than Jayant Sinha, Chairman of PSC-Finance and Member of Parliament. His insights on development in the Web3 world fuelled up the builders to the T. And Unfold became a meeting spot where the Web3 whizzes and real-world game-changers hung out, exchanging ideas and creating magic.

The 3-day event kicked off with a fireside chat with Samyak Jain from Instadapp and Denver Jude from Devfolio. The conversation delved into Samyak's journey as a builder - his foray into the tech world, the inception of Instadapp, building a solid team, and much more.

But the fun didn't stop there! Workshops paved the way for participants to gain deeper insights into the latest decentralized technologies, honing their skills for the days ahead.

The opening ceremony set the tone, and participants refueled with a satisfying dinner, preparing for the late-night coding sessions ahead, complete with midnight snacks at the ready.

Building begins ⏳

The second day was equally thrilling as the focus shifted to the act of creation. We started the day by cranking up the energy levels in the room, creating an atmosphere that buzzed with creative potential. ✨

Mentorship sessions followed next on the agenda. Experts in their respective fields were on hand to provide guidance and unwavering support to the builders. Participants had the opportunity to seek answers to their questions, dispel doubts, and gain technical insights into building on their chosen platform or protocol.

And just like that, with the project submission deadline looming, participants put the finishing touches on their projects, making every moment count. We say an impressive 199 submissions with over 40 projects built on Sui, over 50 projects built on Avalanche, and many more projects built on the various tracks at Unfold.

Judges commenced their evaluation, a tense but exciting time!
