The project I am most proud of also happens to be my most recent project. I, with two of my peers, built a prototype dApp for managing electronic medical records. This was the first time I put my hands on the Ethereum platform and the blockchain paradigm. We demonstrated the novelties of having a distributed database of medical records and insurance policies in the healthcare sphere with actors like patient, doctor, and insurer.
The first major roadblock we faced was understanding how blockchain works. As John Sculley said, a technology should either be invisible or beautiful and from Bettina Warburg, we learned that right now blockchain is neither of those. So, we scoured the internet watching videos, reading papers and trying to understand the technology. The second major roadblock we faced was understanding the core concepts of Ethereum (gas etc) and getting our smart contract to run with the frontend. We had to optimize the code, google the bugs out. StackExchange was really helpful and the documentation of solidity proved to be the ultimate resource. To build the dApp we first built three smaller dApps watching tutorials from various YouTubers like Siraj, Gary Simon etc. This cleared a lot of doubts and we understood how to use development tools like Ganache, Metamask and Truffle.
I am currently updating the Github repository of the dApp, you should see the content here in a few days: https://www.github.com/sarvesh0803/blockchain-for-healthcare
