I was a member of a winning team of Smart India Hackathon 2023 among 500 teams under one of the problem statements. I was responsible for the backend development of the prototype and was heavily involved in the planning and design phase of our project. Throughout the competition, my skills and ability to perform under pressure were put to the test, and SIH being the first hackathon I had participated in, was one of the most memorable experiences of my life.
The wonderful experience of working in a team together to solve a real-life problem and build a working solution after hours of continuous effort is what drives me to participate in such competitions.
I have built a PDF editing web application in ReactJS. I liked the convenience of using websites like ilovepdf for simple editing. Figuring out how to programmatically edit PDFs was an interesting task. I also provided a cloud storage facility to upload and save files.
I have also worked on a deep learning LSTM model to recognize signs of the Indian Sign Language from videos of signers. Collecting videos of signs from various sources, preprocessing videos, extracting frames and then performing image processing operations such as background removal, cropping, etc, and using the Mediapipe framework for feature extraction and then training, testing, hypertuning LSTM model were some of the tasks involved in this project.
I have always been enthusiastic about the vast sea of solutions to real-world problems that have been made possible due to advancing technologies. I love exploring new technologies and trying to solve problems using those technologies. I am looking forward to participating in this hackathon.
