I am an electronics enthusiast and have been working on electronics projects for the past few years. Driven by a thirst for knowledge and innovating, I like to create projects at the intersection of software and hardware. I am also greatly attracted to the field of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision.
A few months back I started a project to create a Real Harry Potter Wand(like the ones at Universal Studios). This turned out to be a great challenge as I had just passed out from high school and had just begun with the basics of computer vision & machine learning. This was the biggest project I had taken up till then.
So, I started a beginner's machine learning course at Udacity and set my deadlines. I took this project as a motivation that would let me get the most out of my holidays and push me to study more and more about computer vision and machine learning. For this project I wanted to create a python program to track a retro-reflector tipped wand in a real-time video from a night vision camera and then recognize the character drawn by the person in mid air with high accuracy. But I had to do all of this by keeping the video processing minimum as the program had to run on a raspberry pi.
Finally after a lot of brainstorming and learning, I finished my project and published it on various platforms like Instructables and Hackster.io. The project got featured on Instructables and got its own blog written at the official raspberry pi website. This challenge taught me that the best way to develop a new skill is by taking up projects and having a more hands-on experience rather than mugging up the code and the documentations.
