Isaac Agudo

Isaac is Associate Professor at the Computer Science Department of the University of Malaga. He has been involved in different European and national research projects since 2002, when he obtained his Master Degree in Mathematics by the University of Malaga. He received his PhD in Computer Science in 2008. He also holds a BS in Computer Science. Apart from publishing articles in international conferences and journals he has been also involved in many research projects at both national an European level, with different levels of responsibility. He has collaborated in the organization of relevant conferences in Information Security with different roles (e.g. IFIPTM, IEEE CloudCom, EuroPKI) as well as reviewer of some important journals (e.g. IJIS, COSE, SCN). During the last 5 years he has been collaborating with the company ZeroDB Inc. in the design and development of the NuCypher network. Based on this work he has founded a University startup that provides cybersecurity consulting services for Blockchain projects and is currently helping improve the NuCypher network [2,3]. Previously to the creation of the startup, he has participated with Manuel Montenegro in the spin-off company prize at University of Malaga, winning a prize in 2018 [4]. They were also selected in an accelerator/incubator program OpenFuture by Telefónica in 2019 [5], to develop security services for Connected Vehicles. In 2020, together with Alvaro Lopez they were selected for the acceleration program Ciberemprende, by the Spanish Institute of Cybersecurity (INCIBE), where they ended in the Top 10 of the selected projects [1]. He has participated in other hackathons and challenges, such as the I Convergence Global Blockchain Challenge and the MOBI Grand Challenge Hackathon, resulting in a third place team prize and best technical solution prize for the project: “OBDX: Vehicle data exchange through Blockchain network” [6].

He is the inventor of some patents for ZeroDB Inc, the company behind NuCypher:
Mikhail Egorov, MacLane Scott Wilkison, David Núñez and Isaac Agudo, "High-performance access management and data protection for distributed messaging applications"
Mikhail Egorov, MacLane Scott Wilkison, David Núñez and Isaac Agudo, "Method and system for secure delegated access to encrypted data in big data computing clusters"

Projects

Optimizing worker tracking in NuCypher using BLS

This projects helps to keep track of the workers that commit to work on each period and record a proof of that. We use BLS to make aggregated signatures of every workers commitment.Solidity, Ganache, Node, Truffle, ethermint, BLS
