An ex-classmate of mine told me about bitcoin in 2016, when I was in my final year (Bsc. Mech.). He told me that Bitcoin is a currency that is not controlled by anyone (and also controlled by everyone). I asked him how that is possible and he only gave me a couple of links and faucets. All these raised my curiosity about Bitcoin. All I could find about Bitcoin, during my search to know more, are trading groups. I joined these trading groups and also participated in trading. The turning point for me was this Coursera course ==> https://www.coursera.org/learn/cryptocurrency <==. It was during the Coursera course that I realized that I needed programming knowledge in order to understand Bitcoin. I spend the next year (Almost the whole of 2017) learning python, javascript, and solidity. I find more joy in programming than the mechanical engineering that I studied). Luckily for me, 2017 and 2018 were bull seasons and I was able to earn enough from trading to support myself while learning. I volunteered to write solidity smart contracts and build ICO APIs (using python) for many cryptocurrency communities. In 2018, while managing the bounty program for Dalecoin, I got the idea to develop https://multisend.co, an ethereum Dapp that helps distribute ethereum and ethereum tokens. I wanted to contribute to ethereum Vyper at this time but I discovered that I lack professional skills. I "shy-ed" away and instead of contributing to Vyper, I rewrote multisend in Vyper. I joined Andela, one of the best software development companies in Africa, to improve my professional skills. The decision to join Andela paid off. I was able to develop my soft skills and evolve into a professional software developer.
During my time in Andela, I was able to work and learn from great minds in Frontdoor Inc, USA. I was also able to develop https://coinprofile.co which has helped many Nigerians living abroad to send money home using BTC and ethereum. I picked up more programming language and build other tools during my time in Andela. And most importantly, Andela taught me how to center a div ( I hated CSS before I joined Andela).
I find joy in building things that solve real-life problems. I love to research new ways of doing things and I dream of developing things that are as revolutionary as Linux, ethereum, bitcoin, etc.
I trade crypto, play games (COD mobile), and read about politics during my leisure time. Being an introvert, I also spend a lot of time reading about how to build relationships. I now find one on one conversations easy but still shy away from giving talks but I never get tired of listening to educative intelligent speeches.
