A private software company called Yomari recently held a Code Camp in Pulchowk Campus where students from all over Kathmandu Valley participated and showcased their projects. My team (3 members) was the winner of the code camp. We had developed a Decentralized Voting System based on Blockchain Technology using Ethereum platform in the context of Nepal's political system. This project consisted of a web app developed using Node JS and a cross platform mobile application developed using React-Native. People could vote for their candidates using mobile application and the web app displayed the result of the election. It sounds simple but the technology underneath this system is certainly not. It was decentralized meaning there was no third party needed for conducting the election. It was a shared and cryptographically secured trusted ledger which no single user controlled and could be inspected by anyone. This was the most complex project I had worked on till date. I learnt C and C++ at the very beginning of my college life and developed 2 games- one was 'Car Race' and the other was 'Monopoly-A digital board game'. I also learn QT to build basic desktop applications. I learnt python and soon enough, became a great enthusiast of this gorgeous programming language. I then worked on some django projects and realized my passion on backend related works. I, with my team, built a web application-"Inventory Management System" for my college which is being actively used on several departments of my college for storing and keeping track of inventories. This project was highly applauded by the college management team. We had put 6 months of effort building this system using all the Software Engineering paradigms right from Requirement Analysis to Documentation Section. Apart from this, I have sound knowledge on Data Structure and Algorithm and I am also quite familiar with Hadoop Architecure for Big Data Analysis. Currently I am working on a Machine Learning related project that involves a recommendation system for restaurants in Nepal. Although I have put my hands on many fields of Computer Science and experimented with them to know my true interest, the only thing that truly drives me is Web Development, particularly Backend Web Development. I am quite fascinated by Django and its vast range of packages and dependencies that have made my coding life fun and adventurous, to be honest and I am hoping to pursue my career on this field. After working on so many projects, the main thing that I have learnt is that no matter how difficult and short-deadline the project is, it is sure to be accomplished if you have sheer-dedication. I am really excited for this hackathon and am looking forward to win it. I hope I get accepted. Thank you!
